Live one-hour Webinar!
November 18th, 2026
Start time: 12:00 pm CST
Did you know that compliance programs for individual and small group physician practices shifted from voluntary to mandatory with the passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA)? Since 2010, all healthcare providers enrolling in Medicare or Medicaid have been required to establish, implement, and maintain an effective compliance program as a condition of participation.
This educational session will guide learners through the Office of Inspector General’s (OIG) recommended framework for developing compliance programs in individual and small-group practices. The presentation will break down the essential elements of an effective program and help participants understand how these standards support ethical practice operations.
According to the OIG, a strong compliance program not only reduces the risk of fraud and abuse but also supports physicians in submitting accurate, complete, and truthful claims. By adopting these best practices, providers can protect their organizations, ensure regulatory adherence, and promote a culture of integrity in healthcare delivery.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of
this session, participants will be able to:
- Explain the transition from voluntary to mandatory compliance programs for individual and small group physician practices under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

- Describe the responsibilities of Medicare and Medicaid–enrolled providers related to implementing and maintaining a compliance program as part of their enrollment obligations.
- Recognize how compliance programs help prevent fraud, waste, and abuse and support the submission of accurate and truthful claims
