An examination of all modifiers that are used in a surgical practice. Analyze what is appropriate to report in conjunction with the surgical package and the global period for optimal reimbursement of all billable services. Differentiate between similar modifiers for appropriate utilization based on the circumstances. Assess the documentation for supporting information to justify reporting additional services that would otherwise be included.

• Identify the global package for surgical procedures
• Optimize reimbursement potential with identification of modifier necessity prior to claim submission
• Assess documentation for appropriate modifier reporting
• Distinguish between modifiers that seem similar
• Differentiate the correct modifier for the individual provider and their role in each surgical report
• Manage the risk of over-utilization of certain modifiers by communicating documentation improvement opportunities
